SUMMARY:GET ACTIVE 2.0
DESCRIPTION:The EU GREEN alliance is relaunching its connected physical activity challenge\, “Get Active 2.0”\, taking place from April 28 to May 18\, 2025. Students and staff from partner universities are invited to take part in this dynamic\, cross-border event designed to boost their physical activity and team spirit! \nThis year’s challenge is coordinated jointly by the University of Gävle (Sweden) and the University of Angers (France)\, as part of sustainable and healthy campuses. \nThe initiative aims to encourage daily movement\, fight sedentary lifestyles\, and promote active mobility\, for a healthy and sustainable campus life. \n  \n \nA fun and inclusive 3-week competition \nFrom April 28 to May 18\, participants will walk or cycle to earn points via the Kiplin mobile app. By forming teams of up to 5 people\, participants will contribute to a collective effort to move more! \nWhether participants walk to class\, cycle to work\, or just enjoy a stroll during their lunch break\, every movement counts. Fun challenges and quizzes will also be integrated to spice up the experience and give the teams the chance to earn bonus points. \nThis year\, all nine EU GREEN universities will compete in the challenge: the universities of Gävle (Sweden)\, Angers (France)\, Extremadura (Spain)\, Évora (Portugal)\, Oradea (Romania)\, Parma (Italy)\, Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences (Poland)\, Atlantic Technological University (Ireland) and Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (Germany). \nHow does it work? \nParticipants earn “kips” through physical activity\, which are then converted into points. The point system rewards regular moderate activity over occasional intense efforts\, to encourage healthy habits for everyone: \n\n1 kip = 100 steps or 1 minute of cycling\nPoints scale:\n\nFrom 1 to 100 kips → 100 points per kip\nFrom 101 to 200 kips → 50 points per kip\nFrom 201 to 300 kips → 10 points per kip\nBeyond 300 kips → 0 points per kip\n\n\n\nAt the end of the challenge\, 3 rankings will be established: individual ranking\, team ranking\, and university ranking (inter-entity competition). \nReady to get started? \nBefore April 28\, make sure you’re ready: \n\nDownload the Kiplin app on your smartphone\nOn Android: also download Google Fit\nOn iPhone: enable data sharing with the Health app\nFor cycling: install the Social Ride app\nCreate your account using the registration code (provided by your university)\nJoin your university’s group and create or join a team (max. 5 members)\n\nLet’s move\, connect and have fun together across Europe!

SUMMARY:STAKEHOLDER LECTURE SERIES: The Role of Student Associations in the Ecological Transition
DESCRIPTION:The Role of Student Associations in the Ecological TransitionWhat are the main reasons why young people are concerned about the environment? How has their involvement developed in recent years? What are the obstacles to students’ involvement in these issues? How can student organisations accelerate social and environmental change? \nIn this talk\, Flavie Vincke\, Vice-president in charge of the ecological emergency at the FAGE (French Federation of Students’ Associations and EU Green associate partner)\, will look at the role of French young people and student associations in the ecological transition. \nHer presentation will focus on three main themes: \n\nOverview of young people’s involvement in socio-environmental issues.\nLink with educational issues: as a place of learning\, universities must play a leading role in the changes we want to see in society. In collaboration with various partners\, they must develop programmes that enable young people to acquire the resources they need to adapt their field of study to environmental and social challenges.\nRole of student associations in raising young people’s awareness of these issues\, particularly through the implementation of a variety of projects.\n\nThe presentation will be followed by a discussion and Q&A session with the speaker. \nOnline lecture organised by the University of Angers in partnership with the French Federation of Students’ Associations (FAGE). \nOpen to everyone \nContact: albertine.lucas@univ-angers.fr \n🎙 Speaker: Flavie Vincke – Vice-president in charge of the ecological emergency – French Federation of Students’ Associations (FAGE) \n🕥 Time: April 29th\, 13.00 – 13.45 CET (12.00 – 12.45 GMT)\n🔗 Registration: Here

SUMMARY:MASTERCLASS: Education and Citizenship
DESCRIPTION:This EU GREEN Masterclass will explore the essential relationship between education and citizenship in the context of today’s rapidly evolving global and technological landscape. Delivered by Prof. Luís Sebastião (University of Évora) and Prof. Maria Luísa Branco (University of Beira Interior)\, both members of the Centre for Research in Education and Psychology at the University of Évora (CIEP-UE)\, the session will address how citizenship education remains a cornerstone of human development and democratic societies. \nGrounded in classical reflection and contemporary challenges\, the session will examine two key theses: that cosmopolitan citizenship must be shaped with sensitivity to local histories and cultures\, and that the challenges posed by digitalisation\, globalisation\, and artificial intelligence can serve as opportunities to reconceptualise citizenship education. Participants will be invited to reflect on how civic participation is being redefined\, and how education can respond to these changes while safeguarding democratic values. \n\nREGISTER HERE\n\n\nJOIN THE MASTERCLASS HERE
