SUMMARY:GROUFES 2026 - Growing up the Future Conference
DESCRIPTION:As part of the EU GREEN Alliance\, the Otto von Guericke University of Magdeburg will host the international conference Growing up the Future from the 5th to the 6th May 2026. \nAbout the Conference \nThe international and interdisciplinary conference “Growing up the Future: Education for Sustainability” (GROUFES 2026) invites researchers\, lecturers\, teachers\, and students to contribute to a focused discussion on how education can respond to pressing global sustainability challenges. \nClimate change\, biodiversity loss\, digitalisation\, migration\, demographic shifts\, and social inequality are reshaping our societies and our education systems. GROUFES 2026 provides a platform to examine how education can equip learners with the knowledge\, competences\, and values needed for sustainable futures\, while also rethinking educational practice itself. \nThe conference is open to participants worldwide and particularly welcomes members of the EU GREEN Alliance. The conference language is English. \nConference Themes \nThis conference offers the following panel discussions: \n\n\nWhat do we know and think about sustainability? \n\n\nHow can we transform and imagine both university teaching and living on the campus for the future? \n\n\nHow can Ecofiction and Ecocritique develop and enrichen pedagogic strategies in teacher training programs? And can they be a new paradigm in teacher training? \n\n\nHow can we transform and imagine both university teaching and living on the campus for the future? \n\n\nWhat does it mean to live and to teach in a postmigrant and inclusive society? \n\n\nHow can teacher training programs be designed to foster social\, cultural\, economic and environmental sustainability and awareness? \n\n\nHow can we learn to live in a multispecies community? \n\n\nHow can we bring different generations together in education for sustainability? \n\nHow can we realise ESD at universities / in society: Talk about good/best-practices\n\n\nDOWNLOAD FULL PROGRAMME

SUMMARY:EU GREEN Harmony Day
DESCRIPTION: On behalf of the EU GREEN Alliance\, it is a pleasure to welcome you to this session in the framework of World Harmony Day. Harmony is not only about peaceful coexistence between cultures and communities—it also begins within ourselves. In the university context\, fostering harmony means creating environments where students can thrive academically\, socially\, and emotionally. This is precisely the spirit behind the work developed within WP8: Campus Life\, where mental health and well-being are central priorities.\n \n JOIN THE SESSION\n \n Today\, we are glad to present an activity that reflects this commitment: the integration of relaxation and active breaks into university life.We will begin with an introduction from the University of Évora\, who has been leading important work in this area. Following that\, we will explore students’ perspectives through the study on “University Students’ Perceptions and Preferences Regarding Relaxation Breaks.” Understanding what students actually need and value is essential if we want to design effective well-being strategies. We will then move beyond the lecture hall with a qualitative exploration of how short relaxation breaks can influence student well-being and focus. These insights highlight that even brief interventions can have a meaningful impact on attention\, stress reduction\, and overall academic experience. To complement this\, we will look at the broader picture: What does the scientific literature tell us about active breaks among university students? This joint contribution from the University of Évora\, the University of Gävle\, and the University of Extremadura brings together evidence that supports the integration of movement and relaxation into daily academic routines. A key highlight of today’s session is the presentation of the aBREAK4you project—its origins\, development\, and the official launch of its video resources. This initiative represents a concrete tool that universities can adopt to promote healthier study habits and improve student well-being in a simple\, accessible way. We will also hear about the practical experiences of the University of Extremadura and the University of Évora in producing and implementing these videos. Their collaboration demonstrates how shared efforts within the EU GREEN Alliance can lead to tangible and scalable outcomes.And\, in the true spirit of today’s theme\, we will not only talk about relaxation—we will also experience it together\, with a short guided relaxation moment. To conclude\, this activity embodies what EU GREEN stands for:collaboration\, innovation\, and care for the university community. By integrating small but meaningful practices into everyday academic life\, we can move towards more balanced\, inclusive\, and harmonious campuses.

SUMMARY:Mental Health Webinar: Sowing the Seeds of Calmness to Learn
DESCRIPTION:As part of the United for Mental Health webinar series\, the EU GREEN Alliance invites participants to explore how simple relaxation techniques can support student well-being and enhance learning. Sowing the Seeds of Calmness to Learn presents an innovative educational experience developed at the University of Angers\, where short sophrology sessions have been integrated into university teaching to help students manage stress and improve their ability to focus and learn. \nLed by Maya Desmarais\, a Spanish teacher at the University of Angers\, and Éléonore Cussonneau\, Head of the Germaine Tillion Research Centre and certified sophrologist\, the webinar will share the project’s development and outcomes\, as well as practical insights into incorporating brief relaxation exercises into the classroom. Participants will also take part in a live demonstration of a five-minute sophrology session and discuss how similar initiatives could be adapted to their own educational contexts. \nThe webinar is open to students\, teachers\, researchers\, and anyone interested in promoting mental health and well-being through innovative approaches to teaching and learning. \n\nCLICK HERE TO REGISTER

SUMMARY:MASTERCLASS: AI in Teaching: Tools\, Strategies and Reflection
DESCRIPTION:AI tools are already in our classrooms — often before we have decided what we want them to do there. This Masterclass gives teaching staff a working command of generative AI in higher education\, built around three questions: which tools\, which strategies\, and what do we conclude? \nParticipants first build a functional mental model of how large language models actually behave\, then examine where that behaviour helps or harms specific teaching tasks — preparation\, in-class work\, assessment and administration. Live demonstrations show what the technology does and does not do\, and where its failure modes appear. The session closes with some legal and institutional framing (EU AI Act\, data protection) and a structured reflection in which each participant defines one concrete change to their own teaching. \nBy the end of the session\, participants will be able to:\n– describe how generative AI systems produce output\, and use that understanding to predict where they fail;\n– identify and name recurring failure modes in AI-supported teaching work;\n– match AI tools to specific teaching tasks using a four-level framework\, from single prompts to structured workflows;\n– locate their own practice within the UNESCO AI Competency Framework for Teachers (2024);\n– formulate one specific\, implementable commitment for their own teaching. \nThe session is open to teaching staff across all disciplines and requires no prior technical knowledge. All materials are released as Open Educational Resources under CC BY 4.0. \nREGISTER HERE\nJOIN THE ROOM
