SUMMARY:MASTERCLASS: Rethinking Science Education for Sustainability
DESCRIPTION:How can science education help address today’s sustainability challenges? This MasterClass presents the main research lines and educational experiences developed by our group\, and related initiatives focused on sustainability\, emotions and science education. Through examples involving primary school pupils and pre-service teachers\, the session will explore how ecological literacy\, biodiversity perception\, emotions\, misconceptions and sustainability competences influence science learning and environmental awareness. The MasterClass will also showcase innovative educational experiences based on active and experiential methodologies\, including school gardens\, gamified geology\, biodiversity activities and inquiry-based science workshops. Sowing the Seeds of Calmness to Learn presents an innovative educational experience developed at the University of Angers\, where short sophrology sessions have been integrated into university teaching to help students manage stress and improve their ability to focus and learn. \nLed by Maya Desmarais\, a Spanish teacher at the University of Angers\, and Éléonore Cussonneau\, Head of the Germaine Tillion Research Centre and certified sophrologist\, the webinar will share the project’s development and outcomes\, as well as practical insights into incorporating brief relaxation exercises into the classroom. SUMMARY:MASTERCLASS: AI in Teaching: Tools\, Strategies and Reflection
DESCRIPTION:AI tools are already in our classrooms — often before we have decided what we want them to do there. This Masterclass gives teaching staff a working command of generative AI in higher education\, built around three questions: which tools\, which strategies\, and what do we conclude? \nParticipants first build a functional mental model of how large language models actually behave\, then examine where that behaviour helps or harms specific teaching tasks — preparation\, in-class work\, assessment and administration. Live demonstrations show what the technology does and does not do\, and where its failure modes appear. The session closes with some legal and institutional framing (EU AI Act\, data protection) and a structured reflection in which each participant defines one concrete change to their own teaching. \nBy the end of the session\, participants will be able to:\n– describe how generative AI systems produce output\, and use that understanding to predict where they fail;\n– identify and name recurring failure modes in AI-supported teaching work;\n– match AI tools to specific teaching tasks using a four-level framework\, from single prompts to structured workflows;\n– locate their own practice within the UNESCO AI Competency Framework for Teachers (2024);\n– formulate one specific\, implementable commitment for their own teaching. \nThe session is open to teaching staff across all disciplines and requires no prior technical knowledge. The event’s organization is guided by a professor-led Advisory Board\, working in close cooperation with the Organising Committee\, fully composed of students. \nThe 2026 edition of the congress will be held fully in person from November 12th to November 14th\, at the Central Building\, University of Parma (Strada Università 12\, Parma\, Italy)\, and SIM.LAB\, Department of Medicine and Surgery\, University of Parma (Building 27\, University Hospital – Viale Antonio Gramsci 14\, Parma\, Italy) . \nMembers of the EU GREEN Alliance are invited to submit abstracts by 15 August 2026 using the dedicated online form. Registration for EU GREEN participants (both presenters and attendees) will be open from 15 September to 15 October 2026. Participants who miss this registration period may still register during the general registration phase. \nSubject to a minimum of 15 participants from EU GREEN universities\, dedicated social and cultural activities will be organised. Otherwise\, EU GREEN participants will be welcome to join the activities planned for all conference attendees. SUMMARY:ENTREPRENEURSHIP FESTIVAL 2026
DESCRIPTION:The EU GREEN Entrepreneurship Festival 2026 will bring together students from the nine universities of the Alliance at the University of Évora for five days dedicated to entrepreneurship\, sustainability\, innovation\, and collaboration. The Festival represents the culmination of an entrepreneurial journey that began with the EU GREEN Innovation Days and continued through a series of workshops designed to help participants transform challenges and opportunities into sustainable business ideas. \nDuring the Festival\, 18 selected business ideas – two from each EU GREEN partner university – will be further developed through practical sessions\, mentoring\, peer exchange\, and collaboration with experts from across the Alliance. Participants will have the opportunity to refine their projects and prepare their proposals before presenting them during the Final Pitch\, one of the central moments of the programme.
