DESCRIPTION

Experience Biodiversity in an amazing mountain landscape in Poland!

The Blended Intensive Programme combines online and in-person teaching to provide an interdisciplinary, international learning experience focused on global biodiversity challenges and solutions. The online component (30 teaching hours) introduces students to biodiversity patterns, drivers of biodiversity loss, climate and meteorological influences, ecosystem degradation, conservation frameworks, and modern research tools, including GIS, drones, and big data. Emphasis is placed on linking ecological theory with global and European policy frameworks and evidence-based conservation practice.

The in-person component (40 hours) deepens this knowledge through applied learning, addressing global and regional biodiversity patterns, conservation and restoration strategies, emerging threats such as microplastic pollution, and the role of citizen science. Students work in international teams on a group project running throughout the course, culminating in an oral presentation evaluated by an international panel of teachers. The programme strengthens ecological understanding, digital and analytical skills, international collaboration, and the capacity to address real-world biodiversity and sustainability challenges.
