EU GREEN reinforces its mobility strategy with landmark ERASMUS+ Coordinators meeting in Brussels

November 6, 2025

The EU GREEN Alliance has successfully held its first ERASMUS+ Coordinators Meeting in Brussels, marking a major milestone in its efforts to foster deeper international collaboration and student mobility across partner universities. The two-day event brought together ERASMUS+ coordinators, mobility officers, professors, and representatives from all EU GREEN institutions, including WP6 coordinators Alessandro Bernazzoli, Vagia Niki Stergioula (Vanita), and Elisa Pelizziari.

Organised under the umbrella of the alliance’s priority area on Fostering Mobility and International Collaboration for Education on Sustainability, the meeting focused on the development of shared frameworks and inclusive practices to support academic mobility in all its forms. Throughout the sessions, participants engaged in collaborative workshops and open discussions to reinforce partnerships, streamline administrative processes, and lay the groundwork for a more integrated European Education Area within the EU GREEN network.

One of the central outcomes of the meeting was the co-design of flexible and transparent Learning Agreement templates, aimed at improving academic recognition and facilitating intra-alliance mobility for students. Coordinators also explored innovative pilot initiatives that promote blended, virtual, and physical mobility opportunities, with an emphasis on accessibility, student empowerment, and equity.

Beyond its technical outcomes, the meeting fostered strong professional connections and mutual understanding among university staff, reinforcing a shared commitment to build a mobility ecosystem that is not only efficient but also meaningful and inclusive for all learners.

This inaugural meeting stands as a key strategic step in the alliance’s broader mission to support a student-centred, sustainable, and future-oriented European University. By aligning its work with the European Commission’s goals for higher education alliances, EU GREEN continues to position mobility as a core driver of academic excellence, collaboration, and internationalisation.

The insights and actions defined during this gathering will directly shape future mobility strategies across the alliance and help build a truly dynamic space where students and staff can move, teach, and learn across borders—strengthening the impact of European higher education through sustainability and inclusion.
