The EU GREEN Alliance will take part in the 2025 edition of the European Researchers’ Night, a Europe-wide public event celebrating science and bringing researchers closer to society. Organised under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), this initiative aims to showcase the diversity of research and highlight its impact on citizens’ daily lives, in an engaging and accessible way. EU GREEN partner universities will host interactive workshops, exhibitions, science cafés, and hands-on experiments designed for all audiences.
By participating in this collective celebration of knowledge, EU GREEN reaffirms its commitment to promoting science, sustainability, and inclusive education. The event is also an opportunity to inspire future researchers and promote public engagement with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through dialogue and creativity. 🔗 More about the European Researchers’ Night
The first Conference of the Parties (COP1) of the EU GREEN Alliance will take place on October 7, 2025, in Angers, France. This high-level event will focus on fostering collaboration between universities, cities, and regions to advance the goals of the EU Green Deal and the Climate Neutral and Smart Cities Mission. With four EU GREEN member universities already involved in the mission, COP1 will provide a platform to share best practices, inspire joint action, and strengthen strategic partnerships for sustainable development.
The conference will feature plenary sessions, roundtable discussions, expert talks, and interactive exchanges with stakeholders, students, and EU representatives. Topics include climate-neutral city strategies, the New European Bauhaus initiative, and the signing of the EU GREEN Declaration. Participants will also enjoy networking opportunities, poster presentations, and social activities designed to foster community and collaboration.
The EU GREEN alliance is relaunching its connected physical activity challenge, “Get Active 2.0”, taking place from April 28 to May 18, 2025. Students and staff from partner universities are invited to take part in this dynamic, cross-border event designed to boost their physical activity and team spirit!
This year’s challenge is coordinated jointly by the University of Gävle (Sweden) and the University of Angers (France), as part of sustainable and healthy campuses.
The initiative aims to encourage daily movement, fight sedentary lifestyles, and promote active mobility, for a healthy and sustainable campus life.
A fun and inclusive 3-week competition
From April 28 to May 18, participants will walk or cycle to earn points via the Kiplin mobile app. By forming teams of up to 5 people, participants will contribute to a collective effort to move more!
Whether participants walk to class, cycle to work, or just enjoy a stroll during their lunch break, every movement counts. Fun challenges and quizzes will also be integrated to spice up the experience and give the teams the chance to earn bonus points.
This year, all nine EU GREEN universities will compete in the challenge: the universities of Gävle (Sweden), Angers (France), Extremadura (Spain), Évora (Portugal), Oradea (Romania), Parma (Italy), Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences (Poland), Atlantic Technological University (Ireland) and Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (Germany).
How does it work?
Participants earn “kips” through physical activity, which are then converted into points. The point system rewards regular moderate activity over occasional intense efforts, to encourage healthy habits for everyone:
- 1 kip = 100 steps or 1 minute of cycling
- Points scale:
- From 1 to 100 kips → 100 points per kip
- From 101 to 200 kips → 50 points per kip
- From 201 to 300 kips → 10 points per kip
- Beyond 300 kips → 0 points per kip
At the end of the challenge, 3 rankings will be established: individual ranking, team ranking, and university ranking (inter-entity competition).

On April 3 and 4, 2025, the EU GREEN Alliance will host a face-to-face Innovation Days, bringing together students, researchers, and professionals from nine different universities to develop creative solutions to some of society’s most pressing challenges. This synchronized event will serve as a collaborative platform where participants will engage in multidisciplinary teamwork, guided by mentors from across Europe.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore design thinking tools, helping them identify unmet needs and develop new academic and entrepreneurial ideas. Through structured sessions and hands-on experiences, attendees will gain valuable insights into problem-solving, innovation, and sustainability-driven entrepreneurship.
