The Role of Student Associations in the Ecological TransitionWhat are the main reasons why young people are concerned about the environment? How has their involvement developed in recent years? What are the obstacles to students’ involvement in these issues? How can student organisations accelerate social and environmental change?
In this talk, Flavie Vincke, Vice-president in charge of the ecological emergency at the FAGE (French Federation of Students’ Associations and EU Green associate partner), will look at the role of French young people and student associations in the ecological transition.
Her presentation will focus on three main themes:
- Overview of young people’s involvement in socio-environmental issues.
- Link with educational issues: as a place of learning, universities must play a leading role in the changes we want to see in society. In collaboration with various partners, they must develop programmes that enable young people to acquire the resources they need to adapt their field of study to environmental and social challenges.
- Role of student associations in raising young people’s awareness of these issues, particularly through the implementation of a variety of projects.
The presentation will be followed by a discussion and Q&A session with the speaker.
Online lecture organised by the University of Angers in partnership with the French Federation of Students’ Associations (FAGE).

Nature Based Solutions – Possibility or necessity in our cities?
In the webinar, topics related to the use of Nature Based Solutions for cities as a response to problems related to water quantity and quality, climate change and biodiversity loss will be discussed. Speakers will present the essence of the problem, assumptions regarding the use of NBS and the results of conducted research on the use of Nature Based Solutions in practice. The results of the research will include green roofs, rain gardens and floating islands used for the improvement of environment in urban area.

The aim of the webinar is to communicate the scope of the ongoing research to a wider range of researchers, and to encourage collaboration on the topic of using Nature-based.
Solutions as a multi-functional and provide a wide range of benefits measures to address urban challenges exacerbated by growing urban populations and the impacts of climate change. In doing so, the team from Wrocław University of Environmental and Life Sciences aims to increase networking between researchers, thereby improving collaboration and opportunities for collaborative research, with a view to applying for external funding for joint
projects in the near future.

Decentralized Solar Power Plant and Microgrid to Improve Sustainability of Local
Community Energy Supply System In the webinar, a project proposal to create an innovative decentralized energy microgrid that will serve as a model for sustainable, efficient, and secure energy supply will be presented. The foundation of this microgrid will consist of solar power plants (SPPs), energy storage systems (ESS), and smart grid technologies. Our goal is not only to develop a concept but also to implement it in practice by integrating modern technologies, utilizing local infrastructure, and fostering collaboration with local communities.

The webinar will present the features of the project that could be the first-time implemented in Ukraine, discuss current issues and how this project could reshape the energy system structure. Additionally, the collaboration opportunities will be discussed.
Speaker
This webinar will be presented by Vladyslav Hrytsenko from the National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute", Department of The Electric Power Stations (Ukrainian partner of the EU GREEN alliance).
