3-Minute Fame 2026. Contest for EU GREEN PhD Students

Showcase your PhD in just 3 minutes. Submit your video by 2 February 2026 (12:00 CET). The grand finale will take place in Wrocław, Poland, 15–17 April 2026. 

What is it?

The “3-Minute Fame” contest invites PhD students across the EU GREEN Alliance to present their thesis in a concise, engaging 3-minute pitch for a broad audience. The competition is organised within Research area to promote scientific communication skills and strengthen the doctoral network of the alliance. 

Who can apply?

  • All PhD students currently enrolled at one of the 9 EU GREEN partner universities.

  • Researchers who have submitted their thesis and are preparing for their defense are also eligible.

  • Any discipline is welcome. 

How to apply (Phase 1 – Local Selection)

  1. Create a video (in English) between 2 and 3 minutes.

  2. Use one static slide (no transitions/animations).

  3. No background music, props or additional media; spoken word only.

  4. Accepted formats: .avi, .mp4, .mpeg-4, .wmv, .mov, .flv, .mkv.

  5. (Optional) You may include your home university logo.

  6. Submit by 12:00 CET on 2 February 2026 via the official platform:

By 18 February 2026, each university’s Local Selection Committee will choose 3 winners to advance to the EU GREEN Final.

Phase 2 – EU GREEN Final & PhD Summer School (Wrocław, Poland)

The 27 finalists (3 per university) will attend the EU GREEN PhD Summer School and pitch live to the EU GREEN Awarding Committee in Wrocław from 15–17 April 2026. Participation costs for the Summer School will be covered according to the host’s rules (see regulations, Appendix).

What will the jury look for?

Entries will be assessed on criteria such as time management, clarity of message, audience engagement, stage presence, and overall effectiveness, both in the video (Phase 1) and the live pitch (Phase 2). 

Awards & Recognition

  • Top 3 per university proceed to the EU GREEN Final.

  • Travel/participation for finalists covered per event rules.

  • Winning videos will be shared on EU GREEN and partner channels.

  • All eligible participants receive a certificate of participation.

    • Launch of the call: 29 October 2025

    • Deadline (videos): 2 February 2026, 12:00 CET

    • Local selection results: 18 February 2026

    • Final & PhD Summer School: 15–17 April 2026 (Wrocław, Poland) 

Special note for University of Angers PhD candidates

If you are enrolled at Université d’Angers, you can register for 16 hours of training in January 2026 (stress relief, speech, stage presence). Contact: eugreenwp3@univ-angers.fr by 10 January 2026. Sessions will be recorded in Ametys.
