Strengthening its commitment to inclusive and sustainable education through Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnerships

1The European University Alliance EU GREEN is strengthening its commitment to inclusive and sustainable education through a new Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnerships project focused on Dual Career opportunities for young athletes.

The project, entitled “Promoting the Dual Career School Manager to empower adolescent student-athletes since high school”, has recently been awarded funding by the European Commission. It brings together three EU GREEN partner universities: the University of Parma, which coordinates the project, the University of Extremadura, and Atlantic Technological University.

The initiative aims to develop and promote the role of the Dual Career Manager in secondary schools, providing student-athletes with appropriate guidance and support from an early stage in their educational and sporting careers. The new role is intended to help young athletes successfully combine their academic commitments with training and competition, while supporting their personal and educational development.

A key objective of the project is to facilitate the transition from secondary school to higher education, helping student-athletes pursue their studies while continuing to compete at a high level. By strengthening cooperation between educational institutions and the sporting sector, the project seeks to contribute to more flexible and supportive learning pathways for young people engaged in competitive sport.

The project is led by professor Giancarlo Condello, from the Department of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Parma, in collaboration with colleagues and partners at the University of Extremadura and Atlantic Technological University.

Through this joint initiative, EU GREEN partners are contributing to a more inclusive approach to education that recognises the specific needs and potential of student-athletes, while promoting cooperation and the exchange of expertise across European higher education institutions.
