On April 24 and 25, 2025, the city of Badajoz will host the Young Research Marathon, a multidisciplinary congress organized by the University of Extremadura under the framework of the EU GREEN Alliance.
The event will bring together over one hundred young researchers from the alliance’s nine partner universities, offering a space to present their academic work across a wide range of fields, including Social and Legal Sciences, Sciences, Health Sciences, Engineering and Architecture, and Arts and Humanities. The main objective is to foster scientific exchange, strengthen ties between universities, society, and industry, and promote the visibility of emerging talent across Europe.
omplementing the main event is the extended programme of the Marathon, taking place on April 23, which includes engaging activities such as the Reading Party and other initiatives designed to promote informal discussion and exchange. Together, these events build an exciting and enriching programme that places science, outreach, and collaboration at the heart of the EU GREEN Alliance. These days will undoubtedly generate new synergies that will shape the future of the alliance.
More than 30 themed sessions are scheduled across the two days, featuring concise presentations, dialogue with industry representatives, and collaborative learning opportunities. A key highlight of the programme is the award ceremony of the “3-Minute Fame” competition, coordinated by the University of Extremadura, which celebrates clarity and impact in scientific communication.
The congress also promotes a solidarity initiative in collaboration with the university’s Social Responsibility Office (RSU), reinforcing the alliance’s values of inclusion and civic engagement.
The Young Research Marathon is a testament to EU GREEN’s ongoing commitment to supporting young talent, interdisciplinary cooperation, and a more sustainable and socially connected European Higher Education Area.
