This week, the EU GREEN Alliance is meeting at the University of Gävle for a special workshop focused on regional engagement and sustainable development. Over the course of three days, colleagues from nine countries are coming together to strengthen collaboration, share best practices, and explore strategies to enhance the alliance’s impact on local communities.
The workshop is dedicated to reinforcing EU GREEN’s external engagement, aligning with the European Union’s goals for sustainable and inclusive education and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Participants are actively working on key topics, including the development of a comprehensive Engagement Action Plan, improving collaboration across regions, and enhancing universities’ roles in fostering socioeconomic and environmental sustainability.
“We are happy to host this workshop within our EU GREEN alliance,” says Ylva Fältholm, Rector at the University of Gävle. “Together, we are building a more sustainable future, both within our regions and on an international level. Given the current global challenges, collaboration is more important than ever. We are stronger together.”
Throughout the event, participants are engaging in discussions on regional engagement strategies, taskforce planning, and best practice exchanges. The workshop also features keynote presentations from external stakeholders, interactive sessions, and working groups focused on how universities can drive long-term, impactful change in their communities.
As the workshop progresses, participants continue to refine strategies that will ensure universities remain key drivers of sustainable and inclusive development in their regions. The outcomes of this meeting will shape future initiatives within EU GREEN, reinforcing the alliance’s commitment to long-term collaboration and societal impact.
