Mobility challenge “Get Active 2.0”: congratulations to all participants!

From April 28 to May 18, 2025, the nine universities of the EU GREEN alliance came together to take on the Get Active 2.0 challenge, a connected physical activity initiative designed to fight sedentary lifestyles, promote soft mobility, and encourage healthier habits across university communities and on our campuses.

This second Alliance-wide edition was co-organised by the University of Angers (France) and the University of Gävle (Sweden), within the framework of the workpackage 8 on Sustainable and Healthy Campuses.

A collective challenge across all 9 partner universities

First launched in 2024 with 7 partner universities, the initiative quickly proved its success. This year, all 9 EU GREEN universities took part, confirming growing enthusiasm for collective actions promoting well-being and sustainability.

Students and staff were invited to form teams of up to 5 people and to walk, run or cycle every day, earning points via the Kiplin mobile app. Throughout the three weeks, fun challenges and quizzes added a social and playful dimension to the experience.

A strong participation and impactful results

The 2025 edition saw high engagement across the alliance :

  • 2,121 participants
  • 491 teams
  • 229,461 kilometres covered (including 24,431 by bike)
  • An average of 10,596 steps per participant per day, nearly 20% more than in 2024

These figures reflect the positive impact of the challenge, not only in terms of health, but also for team spirit, awareness of daily habits, and the opportunity for participants to feel part of a broader European community through a shared and tangible experience.

For this 2025 edition, the top three universities leading on the podium, based on the average individual score of their participants, were: the University of Évora in first place, the University of Gävle in second place, and the University of Angers in third place.

An initiative aligned with EU GREEN’s core values

Get Active 2.0 is a concrete example of the mission at the heart of EU GREEN: to create healthier, more sustainable and inclusive campuses. Through this action, the alliance continues to raise awareness among students and staff around physical well-being, environmental challenges and soft mobility, while fostering a collective and cross-border spirit.
