University of Parma Chooses Recycled Paper: A Step Forward in Sustainability

The University of Parma has taken a bold step towards environmental responsibility by transitioning all its A3 and A4 paper supplies to 100% recycled paper. This initiative, starting in 2024, reflects the university’s deepening commitment to sustainability and eco-conscious practices.

Driven through a collaboration between Sustainable Campus area of the EU GREEN European University Alliance and the University’s Sustainable University Group, the decision is fully aligned with EU GREEN’s overarching mission to embed environmental awareness into campus operations.

The move from virgin paper to recycled stock significantly reduces the environmental footprint of the institution, while also cutting costs without sacrificing quality. In a further effort to lower impact, this initiative will soon be accompanied by new regulations to reduce overall paper use in university printing practices.

This measure is not only a symbolic act of green leadership, but a tangible, replicable example of how EU GREEN universities are making lasting changes in daily operations. The University of Parma’s shift underscores a shared commitment among EU GREEN partners to lead by example in creating sustainable, responsible campuses.
