This event explores sustainable practices in food consumption, bringing together experts from across the alliance to address pressing challenges and innovative solutions for a greener future.
Webinar Sessions
•Session 1 (10:00-10:25):
Maria Raquel Lucas, Professor at the University of Évora, will present “Food and Conscious Consumption”. This session examines the relationship between food habits, sustainability, and conscious consumption. Maria will explore topics such as food waste, sustainable practices, and the role of consumers in fostering a fairer food system. Through these insights, participants will reflect on how everyday choices impact the planet positively.
•Session 2 (10:25-10:50):
Dr. Beatrice Biasini, Assistant Professor in Human Nutrition at the University of Parma, will discuss “Promoting Healthy and Sustainable Eating in University Students: Two Case Studies”. This session highlights innovative campaigns to encourage healthier food choices among students, integrating sustainable planning and shopping practices inspired by the Mediterranean diet. Practical solutions to support sustainable dietary habits will also be showcased.
•Session 3 (10:50-11:15):
Dr. Maria Ramos García, from CICITEX (UEx associated partner), presents “Action for Sustainable Food Production through Agroecology: Examples at National and European Levels”. She will delve into agroecology and biodiversity, highlighting initiatives such as the ALIMENTTA Think Tank and partnerships promoting sustainable food chains. The session focuses on the importance of systemic change for sustainable food production.
•Break (11:15-11:30)
•Session 4 (11:30-11:55):
Prof. Dr. Adrian Timar, from the University of Oradea, addresses “Sustainable Food Consumption: Issues and Possible Solutions from Farm to Fork in the View of Food Systems”. This presentation will explore the challenges within food systems and propose innovative solutions to reduce waste, emphasizing sustainable practices along the food chain.
•Session 5 (11:55-12:20):
Dr. Maria Dermiki, Lecturer at Atlantic Technological University, examines “To Eat or Not to Eat: Development of Sustainable Food Products”. Her talk focuses on the challenges of sustainable food product development, addressing environmental and social impacts and how they shape sustainable food systems.
•Debate (12:20-12:45):
A panel discussion will explore “Which Role Can the EU GREEN Alliance Play in Addressing Sustainable and Conscious Food Consumption?” Experts will discuss EU GREEN’s contribution to sustainability, fostering dialogue and solutions to global food challenges.
