EU GREEN Joins Giving Tuesday 2024

This December, universities across the EU GREEN Alliance are embracing the global spirit of Giving Tuesday, organizing impactful activities to foster generosity, solidarity, and community well-being. From fundraising campaigns to sustainability-driven events, EU GREEN partners are working together to create meaningful change.

Highlights of EU GREEN’s Giving Tuesday Activities

Atlantic Technological University (ATU)

ATU’s Donegal Campus will illuminate its charity Christmas lights to support the Donegal Hospice, aiming to raise €5,000. Additional initiatives include a CV-writing speed-dating session organized with the Careers Office and community partners, offering students a unique opportunity to enhance their employability.

University of Angers (UA)

A rich array of activities includes:

Christmas decoration collection for students.

•A solidarity 24-hour running challenge in collaboration with Défi 24h Téléthon-Angers.

Second-hand book sales, free haircuts, manicures, and wellness activities like flash naps and self-massage workshops.

•A solidarity feast featuring a locally sourced menu prepared with a mobile kitchen.

•Distribution of food and hygiene products to students in need.

University of Extremadura (UEx)

The UEx Office of University Social Responsibility is organizing a Christmas food collection campaign to support food banks across Badajoz, Cáceres, and Plasencia. Donations will be collected from December 2 to December 18.

University of Parma (UniPR)

Activities include a nudging campaign encouraging acts of kindness, a clothes exchange day with donations benefiting local homeless shelters, and opportunities for blood and organ donation in collaboration with regional organizations. Gingerbread cookies will also be distributed across campus as a symbol of kindness and community.

University of Wrocław (UPWr)

UPWr is hosting several campaigns, including:

“Noble Gift”, collecting essential items for families in need.

“Gingerbread Mission”, assisting seniors in nursing homes.

“Helper’s Generation”, registering potential stem cell donors.

“Pijafka Action”, where students and staff donate blood.

University of Gävle

•A nudging campaign provided 40 tips on simple acts of kindness, shared digitally and displayed across campus.

•Opportunities to sign up for blood and organ donation were made available through collaborations with regional organizations visiting campus.

•A clothes exchange day organized by students helped recycle clothing, with leftover items donated to a local organization supporting the homeless.

Campus Giving Tuesday ambassadors distributed free gingerbread cookies, symbolizing kindness, and offered free hugs to foster a sense of community.

University of Oradea (UO)

A raffle featuring useful donated objects

will raise funds for a student in need. The event will also include recreational games and competitions to foster community spirit.

These activities underscore the shared commitment of EU GREEN universities to driving social impact and building stronger communities. By participating in Giving Tuesday, EU GREEN highlights the importance of generosity and collaboration in creating a better future.
