EU GREEN Universities Gather to Design a Joint Master’s in Clean Energy for Sustainability and Resilience

On April 7–8, 2025, the city of Badajoz hosted an in-person meeting of academic representatives from six European universities that are part of the EU GREEN Alliance, with the aim of advancing the design of a Joint Master’s Degree in Clean Energy for Sustainability and Resilience.

The meeting brought together delegates from the University of Évora (Portugal), Atlantic Technological University (Ireland), Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (Germany), University of Oradea (Romania), University of Gävle (Sweden), and the University of Extremadura (Spain), which also served as host of the initiative.

Key topics discussed included the common academic structure, curriculum design, mobility mechanisms for students and staff, and quality assurance and international accreditation standards. The goal of this innovative master’s programme is to train highly skilled professionals capable of addressing Europe’s energy and environmental challenges through an interdisciplinary, sustainable, and forward-thinking approach aligned with the European Green Deal.

This project reflects the EU GREEN Alliance’s strong collective commitment to building impactful, cross-border academic programmes that prepare future professionals to lead the green transition. By working together, the alliance continues to strengthen its mission of fostering sustainability, innovation, and inclusive education throughout Europe.
